Apple Opens New Flagship Store in Shanghai, China

Apple announced on July 10 the opening of its first flagship store in Shanghai, China, with an aim to strengthen its technical support for Chinese customers, the Xinhua News reported on July 10. With a floor area of 1,500 square meters, the new store is located at the Lujiazui finance and trade zone in Pudong New District, with more spacious after-sales service area, according to the same source. Aside from its Shanghai store, Apple opened its first flagship store in Beijing, Sanlitun district, China, in 2008. Apple's flagship stores currently exhibit all kinds of electronic products, including Mac PCs, iPods and iPhone 3GS for people to try out, but iPhone 4 and iPad are excluded as they are yet to be officially sold in the Chinese market. In 2009, Apple stores worldwide contributed to one-sixth of the company's total revenue, according again to the Xinhua News.
